Dear Abbi,
I’m thinking of relocating for my job. I currently work as a graphic designer in Philadelphia, and I’m just ready for a change. I do a lot of freelance stuff, so I can pretty much go anywhere. Philadelphia gets so cold and I am thinking of moving to a warmer climate. Also, there’s a lot of sports here. Not that I have anything against sports, I have actually played a lot of sports. I have no problem with other people liking sports either, that’s just not the way I want to live my life. I’m just looking for a city where sports aren’t shoved in my face all the time. I’m not screaming about Helvetica Neue everywhere I go, or wearing Paul Rand shirts all over the place. I keep it to myself. On my way home from work, the train is packed with people heading down to the stadiums-all wearing all their sports gear-chanting and laughing about the games. Why can’t they just keep it to themselves-I don’t need to know that they’re going to see it, live. But that’s not really the main reason I’m moving, it’s for the weather.
Anyways, do you have any recommendations on where I should move?

Dear Mover,
We all have our preferences, but it’s important to realize that Sports fans aren’t that different from everyone else. It’s not like they woke up one day and realized they were sports fans, it’s something they were born with, and they can’t help it. Sports fans have all the same issues as you—they probably hate the cold weather too! They’ve probably had bad things happen in their lives too, and just because they’re sports fans, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to celebrate who they are. You wouldn’t want someone to deny your right to openly discuss your love of Tungsten would you? You should wear Paul Rand shirts!
As for cities, I’d highly recommend San Diego, Austin, or San Francisco.
Best of Luck,
Abbi
